TAX MANAGER

Compensation: $107,500-$135,000 per year 

What We’re Looking For:

  • 5+ years of tax experience in public accounting/professional services firm 
  • CPA license 
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's in taxation preferred 

What You’ll Be Doing:

As a Tax Manager you will manage client engagements, from tax planning through the review of a variety of tax returns, as well as coach and supervise other tax professionals. You will have the opportunity to serve as the primary client contact for a variety of engagements, while developing an expertise in one or more specialized industries. You may also represent the firm through community involvement and events.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Proven technical proficiency in preparation and review of complex tax returns for partnerships, corporations, and individuals 
  • Ensures both that (a) clients comply with all applicable authorities, while at the same time minimizing their tax and reporting burdens, and (b) self and client service teams comply with all policies & standards 
  • Identifies when research is needed; clearly and concisely frames issues to be researched; and clearly and concisely reports the analysis
  • Assists with developing, recommending, and implementing efficient and effective methods to maximize client benefits, especially by decreasing clients current and future taxes.
  • Applies the combination of tax knowledge and knowledge of business/industry to recommend solutions while maximizing client benefits, especially by decreasing client taxes, while managing risk
  • Develops an in-depth understanding of the technical and practical issues and opportunities regarding one or more areas of taxation, e.g., individual, corporate, property, sales, corporate pass-through, state, and local, transfer pricing, credits and incentives, compensation and benefits, accounting methods, R&D tax benefits
  • Introduces and develops new or improved ideas to improve the position of clients, the Firm, or Firm personnel, e.g., by reducing taxes or expenses or providing non-tax benefits.
  • May train and mentor managers/seniors/associates on specialization areas, research skills, and helps to appropriately frame tax issues for analysis
  • Consistently makes suggestion as to how work products, approaches, and/or processes can be improved
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Experience with tax research databases such as Thomas Reuters and RIA
  • Proficient in all tax compliance software including Caseware, Suralink, GoFileRoom, GoSystems, SafeSend, Sure Prep, Depreciation, and standard tax workpapers
